Second session working with dancer Gerry Turvey in the shred project. We were working with the theme of nests and fragile emergence. But the second video is more energised with the figure running, as if to get away.
This is a video documentation of the Body Stories IOU Halifax residency. It is in two parts: the first sweeping across the installation elements; the second showing clips from the performance where we shared the work in progress to an invited audience.
The work went on to be developed at Huddersfield Art Gallery later in the year: Body Stories HAG
Dance Artist, Gerry Turvey was in residence at IOU Studio as part of IOU’s professional development programme Space:Time:Tools:Advice, with film maker June Gersten Roberts and visual artist Roger Bygott as part of her Body Stories project. She is developing a performance through the threading and weaving of different art forms that will map the physical journey of her body, and acknowledge how injury and physical trauma has affected her life journey.
A sharing of work in progress took place at IOU Studio on Thursday 15 August at 6pm to a good reception.
The final installation and performance will be shown in November 2013 at Huddersfield Art Gallery.
